This year’s Golden Globes are notable for the introduction of two new categories: “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” and “Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television.” The awards will celebrate outstanding film and American television productions from 2023, with a diverse slate of nominees including films like “Poor Things” and “The Holdovers,” and TV series such as “Succession” and “The Bear.” Noteworthy nominations include Emma Stone and Paul Giamatti for their respective roles in “Poor Things” and “The Holdovers,” and Christopher Nolan being a strong contender for Best Director for “Oppenheimer.”
A significant change in the Golden Globes this year is the ownership and management structure. The awards are now owned by Eldridge Industries and managed by Dick Clark Productions, with an expanded voting membership including 300 journalists from around the world, showcasing 60% racial and ethnic diversity.
The presenters at this year’s ceremony include a star-studded lineup featuring Amanda Seyfried, Angela Bassett, George Lopez, Julia Garner, Justin Hartley, Michelle Yeoh, Will Ferrell, Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, America Ferrera, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Issa Rae, Oprah Winfrey, Shameik Moore, and Simu Liu, among others.
